This is a very short summary of how a needadisco.com subscription works. We recommend that all prospective members read this and all the sections which follow before joining to help avoid misunderstandings.
First founded in 2006, needadisco has developed a range of highly targeted websites and marketing approaches which draw hundreds of thousands of clicks per month leading to LOTS of serious enquiries from people at various stages of planning weddings, parties and events.
Through trial and error we've found ways to attract genuine visitors who are ready to book their entertainment and we offer them a simple, easy solution to help them find their ideal mobile DJ.
When you take out a subscription with needadisco.com we may also include your company's details on other websites in our portfolio, depending on their entry requirements.
Our entertainment-related websites are either locality or service driven, therefore making natural partners for advertising mobile discos and capturing enquiries.
We launched our mobile DJ accreditation scheme DJmark in 2007, and to this day it remains the most in-depth awards scheme for professional mobile disco companies in the UK. Highly regarded by clients and venue owners alike, DJmark shows that you have due regard for the law and take customer care very seriously.
DJmark is accredited by the UK's largest mobile disco trade association, the National Association of DJs (NADJ).
It is also supported by one of the UK's largest providers of public and employee liability insurance for disco operators, the Mobile DJ Network (MDJN).
Members of NADJ and/or MDJN are entitled to discounts on a range of upgrades and renewals.
Once you are a needadisco.com member you can submit documentation for independent vetting and we will reward you with Validator Badges and DJmark Awards for your website, along with access to our highest value leads and websites such as needaweddingdisco.com.
Membership of needadisco.com is by annual pre-payment subscription. There is no "pay monthly" option. We use PayPal for our transactions, so you can pay by any UK Debit or Credit card, or a PayPal balance if you have one.
Agencies are welcome to use this service but please read the "Considerations for Agencies and Multi-Ops" section below before signing up.
A range of subscription levels are available, depending how far you wish to travel. You simply buy an appropriate number of postcode areas (minimum purchase applies). If you find that you need more areas, you may upgrade at any time.
One "postcode area" is the whole of an area served by a postal outcode. For example, RG covers the towns of Reading, Henley, Newbury, Bracknell, Hungerford, Thatcham etc.. You can choose to cover whole or partial postcodes.
By pricing subscriptions in this way, we help make them affordable for smaller operators who work locally and prevent regional / national companies from soaking up all the work. Postcodes offer far more granularity than counties or regions, allowing members to specify precisely where they wish to work to within a couple of square miles.
Once you have been a member for a year, you may be able to extend your subscription in three month or six month increments depending on your subscription rate. These options attract a premium to offset the additional administration involved.Pricing / Apply
If you are a full member of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ), provide your membership number when you sign up for 15 months for the price of 12 (first-time members only using no other promotional code).
Existing members who join NADJ can add their membership number for a 20% discount on all renewals and upgrades.
PLI details will be automatically verified, and as we have aligned our PAT checking processes, we will know that you have valid PAT records whilst your NADJ membership remains live. This results in less work for you, and less work for us, hence the discount.Pricing / Apply
If you are a full member of the Mobile DJ Network (MDJN), provide your membership number when you sign up for 15 months for the price of 12 (first-time members only using no other promotional code).
Existing members who join MDJN can add their membership number for a 10% discount on all renewals and upgrades.
PLI details will be automatically verified. This results in less work for you, and less work for us, hence the discount.Pricing / Apply

The terms "Agency" and "Multi-Op" are used to define those members who subcontract work to third parties who provide their own equipment and DJs ("Agency") or those who directly employ multiple DJs ("Multi-Op"). These do not correspond to legal descriptions and we acknowledge that there are many possible variants, eg equal partnerships. The third term we recognise is "Solo Operator" meaning a company with a single DJ. For the purposes of simplifying the status into laymans terms, each member is required to choose the category which most closely matches their working practice.
Agencies and Multi-Ops are welcome to apply to join needadisco.com however you should bear in mind that the site is designed for small operators who focus primarily on providing a traditional party mobile disco service. Over 75% of our members are Solo Operators.
Members earn a higher rank by submitting documentation such as PLI, PAT and Health & Safety materials and this higher rank in turn places them higher in search results which improves their chances of winning bids. Agencies will often find it difficult to provide such documentation unless the company operates its own equipment or the agency operator also works as a mobile DJ.
Additionally, most clients are expecting quotes from individual DJs and many prefer not to deal with agencies, and therefore we will clearly advise clients that the company sending them a quotation is in fact an agency.
We would advise that an agency should utilise needadisco.com in the following manner:
Doing so means that you can then submit individual documentation sets for multiple DJs, and each can have their own set of preferences (budgets, gig types, coverage area and so on) but the administrative contact information would remain common. Each DJ would then find their 'natural place' in the rankings and our clients would be much more likely to accept that these DJs can only be booked via the agency.Pricing / Apply
Above all, we operate our service in an honest and fair way. We want to attract professional, considerate members and not just those out to make a fast buck by delivering poor quality. Our websites are moderated to ensure we meet all legal requirements and all relevant best practices, for example by complying with the requirements of the ASA CAP Code of Practice for advertisers. Some have criticised this "heavy handedness" but we believe it has contributed to our outstanding success and a customer satisfaction score of 99.97%.
Joining needadisco.com is an application process. We reject around 10% of all applications where we feel that the applicant would not be a good fit or, for example, where the applicant operates a competing business.
Here's a few things we'd like to bring to your attention:
When you join needadisco.com you will be given access to a secure Member Dashboard - a separate part of the website not visible to the public. Here you can configure your profile, set up filters, upload documentation etc., all of which will customise your listing and help build your ranking.
Some information you supply must be validated (eg. PLI policy, PAT records) before being accepted and flagged on your listing. Our admin team aim to deal with these within 1 working day but sometimes where we are dependant upon third parties, this may take longer. This team works "normal" office hours, 10am - 6pm Monday - Friday.
As a member benefit, we will send you enquiries we receive in the areas which you tell us you cover. Initially this will be your home postcode area, but you can add more areas via your Member Dashboard. The only enquiries you are NOT entitled to receive are those which require a DJmark Award (until you obtain one) and those where the client has specifically requested something which you do not offer (or are pending approval for), or have not submitted evidence for at the point that the enquiry is processed. Via your Dashboard, you may also apply filters so that we only send you enquiries you are interested in receiving. For example, you can specify your minimum prices for certain types of function, ignore enquiries for certain age groups or venue types, and even block out specific dates on a calendar. Enquiries which are trapped by optional filters such as these will be recorded for observation, but will not be made available to you under any circumstances.
DJmark holders get access to premium enquiries and listings on other portfolio websites. All we need to see are a valid PLI policy, PAT records, sample client contract and either a ProDub licence or, if you do not need one, a signed disclaimer form instead, all in the name of the account holder.
Your site ranking is used to determine the position in which your listing appears when clients search our websites. The higher your ranking, the nearer to the top of the search results you will appear. The more evidence you supply of holding particular documents or following accepted industry best practice, the higher your ranking will be. You can also participate in the site by providing venue reviews and write-ups, redirecting your unwanted enquiries etc. and these will also help improve your ranking.
Once we have ascertained that you are eligible to receive details of any given client enquiry, a link leading to full details will be added to your Dashboard. We will also send a notification email to the address we hold on file for you. You will be given all of the information we hold about the event, including client contact details, the extent of which are dictated by the client themselves. You are then invited to provide a quotation for the event directly to the client. Should your proposal be accepted by the client, you will contract with them in exactly the same way as any direct enquiry you may receive via your own advertising.
We are unable to guarantee the delivery of notification emails, therefore you will also be able to access details of eligible enquiries via the Member Dashboard at any time.
"Unlimited Leads" means that you are entitled to receive details of all enquiries posted via www.needadisco.com in the areas to which you are subscribed EXCEPT those filtered by us based on the client's stated requirements (see above), and you may choose to respond to as many of these enquiries as you wish. We also provide you with tools to filter the leads you receive. If you choose to use these filters, then "unlimited" no longer applies. In addition, enquiries which are for "Premium DJs" as specified by the client, are only available to members who have achieved a DJmark Award at any level.
"Area" means a postal outcode or any subset of your choosing. For example, the RG postcode covers the towns of Reading, Basingstoke, Wokingham, Henley, Newbury and so on. You may choose to cover the whole of the RG postcode and this would count as 1 "area". Or you may choose to cover part of the RG postcode (eg. RG7, RG8 and RG9) and this would also count as 1 "area" because they all come under RG. The UK is divided into approximately 120 such areas from KW and ZE in the far north to TR, GY and JE in the far south. When you join needadisco.com you can choose how many postcode areas you wish to cover. Additional "areas" may then be purchased as an add-on to your subscription at any time. NADJ and MDJN discounts apply to these upgrades. Northern Ireland based members are advised to subscribe to a single area unless you are willing to travel to the mainland. We do not cover Eire.
"Premium Enquiry" refers to an enquiry which falls into the upper of two price bands, the averages for which we maintain on a postcode area-by-postcode area basis from historical data. You can find out the specific bandings for any given area by running a postcode search at www.needadisco.com or at www.mobilediscoprices.com. These bandings are reviewed regularly.
DJmark assessments are made on a weekly basis, usually overnight on a Friday. At this point all updates collected during the week will be considered. The full list of requirements can be seen at this page. To prevent unproven members from rapidly progressing through the DJmark levels, you should be aware that it is not possible to obtain Gold until you have held Silver for three consecutive months, Platinum until you have held Gold for three consecutive months and Diamond until you have held a DJmark without a break exceeding 7 days for two full years in total.
All content supplied by you for inclusion on your public-facing pages of our website must comply with the ASA's CAP Code of practice as we have adopted these codes. These are designed to protect consumers by removing all ambiguity and misleading statements from advertisements. We therefore reserve the right to amend the details you supply in order to comply with our understanding of the codes, and you agree to this when joining the site.
Additionally, in order to ensure that the information presented on public-facing pages is current and accurate, and can be easily compared like-for-like with other members, all details you supply for publishing must meet our requirements and will be amended to suit our "house style" of publication. You agree to this when joining the site. A full list of aspects which are not allowed is available on request, and is clearly shown on the member dashboard pages when supplying data for publication.
needadisco.com operates a verified feedback system. Clients who book DJs via our sites are invited to place feedback after their event. This is a mixture of multiple-choice questions and a written feedback comment. Members have the right to reply (once) to comments received, positive or negative. All comments are published along with star ratings based on the averages of the scores received and a "headline" figure showing your average feedback rating marked out of 5 for immediate comparison against other members. In dispute situations, members may keep a real-time pre-event commentary which will be published alongside negative feedback (but not positive). This commentary, the client's comments and the right to reply comment may not be edited once submitted. Clients may request that feedback is removed but not edited. Members cannot edit or remove feedback or commentary. needadisco.com do not mediate disputes. When joining the site you agree to our collecting and publishing of this data and these terms.
Users of Internet Explorer and Microsoft's Edge Browser should be aware that we do not provide support for these browsers. Our supported browsers are Chrome and Safari. You may not be able to access all of the functionality of our Member Dashboard using Internet Explorer.
Whilst the Member Dashboard is designed using "responsive" techniques meaning that it works on small devices as well as full-sized displays, members should be aware that this can lead to overly complex pages due to the level of detail involved. We therefore recommend a full-sized display for most administrative tasks. However, we have paid special attention to the day-to-day lead administration pages to ensure these can be used easily from mobile devices.Pricing / Apply
