Venue Details

Priory Bay Hotel

Seaview

A beautiful venue in a lovely secluded setting. The central area of the hotel has the feel of an old manor house. There are several rooms which could be used for parties - this review focuses on the Restaurant Area.

The Restaurant
Access for band/disco equipment is particularly difficult but the room or marquee are both excellent venues. Expect to pay extra for some companies to attend this venue due to the difficulties involved in gaining access.

The Restaurant is on the Ground floor and accessed via steps or stairs. Restrooms are situated in an adjacent room nearby. There is a bar in an adjacent room a short distance away.

Formal Seating Capacity: 100
Informal Capacity: 150

Room has natural light and views of Gardens

Parking Details
Parking for the function room is a nightmare. It's a quarter of a mile down a dirt track then up a large dirt embankment - nearly burnt out the clutch on my van last time I attempted this.

Access Details
Walk across a field to the rear of the venue and then in through a permanent marquee to the restaurant. A long haul and on a wet day it's an absolute nightmare!

Disco Setup Area
You're asked to set up in one corner of the room. Which corner you don't actually know until you get there.

Management and Staff
Staff tolerate the entertainers but are not particularly friendly. Lots of foreign-speaking staff with limited grasp of English. Ask for anything out of the ordinary and you're in trouble.

Power Provisioning
You will need plenty of long extensions if you need more than a single 13A

Miscellaneous Comments
All room lighting controlled from inside the kitchen area on dimmers which don't work properly. Therefore you're reliant on communicating your requirements successfully to the non-English-speaking staff if you're to co-ordinate house and disco lighting during first dances for instance :(
